Detailed Installation InstructionsDownload any of the Five files by clicking on it dcom95.exedcom98.exedao.exemdac.exe50comupd.exe
How to download: This example will be for mdac.exe. You can download each file the same way. Click on the link above. You can choose to save mdac.exe on your hard drive or you can run the program directly. If you save mdac.exe (recommended), then to run it: From Windows, select START (lower left corner of your screen) and then RUN. Type path\mdac and press OK. The setup wizard will guide you through the installation process. Note: You need to know the path where you saved mdac.exe or you can press the BROWSE button and find it. (1) Install WinSpeed Update (Everyone needs to do this step) Run update2008H_1.exe or update2008H_2.exe.

The setup wizard will then guide you through
the installation process. When you run WinSpeed© check the first screen. After installing
this update, your first screen should read Version 2008H
You will see a screen with Jet3.5 and ODBCDirect checked. Deselect ODBCDirect (you only need to install Jet3.5). The next screen has six items selected. De-select them all; you don't need them. Sometimes selecting all the boxes causes problems during installation Possible Problems and fixes: 1. Error Message: Can't run DAO because another program is using DAO: DAO should run in Safe Mode. Normally you get into Safe Mode by shutting down and then restarting your computer. As it starts up, continually tap the F8 key until you see the Safe Mode screen. Move up to Safe Mode and press enter.
2. Error Message: 'An error occurred during the move data process' Try these steps one at a time: - Make sure WinSpeed is not running - Use the SAVE option and run it from your hard drive - If you are running the DAO setup from a CD then copy the entire DAO folder to your hard drive and run it from there (find the 'setup.exe' file and double click it). -Try running it in Safe Mode. For Safe Mode instructions see item 1. above.
3. Error ... 'internal error #3 or #4' Anti virus software might be stopping a file from downloading. Running a copy from a CD should get around this. If that doesn't work, try running it in Safe Mode. For Safe Mode instructions see item 1. above.
(3) DCOM95 Only Windows 95 users need to run dcom95 prior to running MDAC (Step 5). Run dcom95.exe and follow instructions. (4) DCOM98 May be needed (but not usually) by Windows 98 users prior to running MDAC (step 5). Run MDAC and it will tell you if you need to run DCOM98. (5) MDAC Only required for Windows 95 and 98. MDAC is already part of newer operating systems and you cannot run MDAC. Windows 95/98 may need to run MDAC if WinSpeed© is not working properly. If you need to run dcom 95 or 98 first, MDAC will tell you. Run mdac.exe and follow instructions. (6) 50comupd.exe Required if you have an Internet Explorer version earlier than 4.01 installed. If you cannot open the EDIT RACE screen, run 50comupd.exe.
