Technical Notes and Acronym Definitions
Important: If you have databases
from a previous WinSpeed© version, make a backup of each
one you want to continue using. After Updating, delete all your
old databases and create new ones. Then RESTORE from your backup
files.
If you did not back up old WinSpeed© version databases,
they can be converted to the new database format after Updating to Version 2008H

More files are required for the installation
process. The reason is this: A couple of years ago, packaging
files shared with other applications(DLLs) was not a big problem.
Now it is - these files must be a "matched" set.
In addition, we're using new capabilities of the database that
require some new shared files. Microsoft recommends running
MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) to insure everything
will work OK.
We also need to install DAO (Data Access Objects) drivers because
the WinSpeed© Database connection has been changed from
ODBC to DAO.
Prior to running MDAC, you may need to run DCOM95 or DCOM98
depending on your operating system. When you run MDAC, it will
tell you if you need to run DCOM (Distributed Component Object
Model).
MDAC is not needed (and won’t even run) with Windows
Me, XP and Vista. It is permanently installed with the operating system.
For Windows 95/98 users, Microsoft recommends running MDAC
anytime you have problems running a program due to conflicts
with other applications.
